Royalty operations¶
Behind this description, four distinct functions are hiding :
- royalty statements themselves
- automatic verifications
- closings
- no activity statements
These functions are grouped together in order for them to use the exact same calculation formulas and avoid any rounding discrepancy.
Statements¶
A dedicated page is available to address all the aspects of royalty statement calculation, customization and export :
Verifications¶
Closings¶
Their role is to update, at the end of the period, the balances of the shareholders when :
- the rights for the period recoup completely or partially the advances,
- the carried forward rights, set aside because the payment threshold was not reached, are augmented or paid (depending on the threshold).
It is recommended to make a backup of the database before doing the closings because you can’t go back.
The use is very simple : select the period, indicate the closing date (usually the last day of the period) and click “Next”. A screen present you the changes that Le Sage is about to apply. The “Preview estimate” button lets you see/print a report detailing the changes before and after closing.
Press “Next” again to validate the closing. A confirmation window will popup to prevent any hazardous action.
No activity statements¶
In some countries (France for example), publishers must provide every year to every shareholder for whom they could make statements, a “blank” (or “no activity”) statement if there were no rights for them in the period.
